One of the most original and exciting bands to emerge in years, Get The Blessing was formed by drummer Clive Deamer and bassist Jim Barr, rythm section of trip-hop's legendary band Portishead. Get The Blessing have stormed onto the scene, taking riffs and rhythms from rock, punk and dance music and artfully welding them onto inventive wild jazz improvisations, all colliding in a joyous celebration of sound. With trumpeter Pete Judge and saxophonist Jake McMurchie from Superfurry Animals completing the line-up, Get The Blessing's rocking tunes and snappy arrangements create a genre-bending blend of sounds that is all their own, flirting slyly with jazz while pounding the dancefloor with their 'gloriously powerful sound' (BBC Music Magazine). Get The Blessing wear their jazz credentials lightly but defiantly. The intricate but rock-solid rhythm section forms the gloss that holds Get the Blessing together, with the dual saxophone and trumpet frontline working with the bass to create melodies and harmonies.

John Scofield began playing the guitar as a teenager, discovered the standards of jazz before being drawn to jazz-rock and studying at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. In the 1970's, his career started as a side man with trumpeter and singer Chet Baker and pianist George Duke, among others. In the 1980's the general public discovered his swing, when he played for three years alongside the legendary Miles Davis. Later, Sco's brand of jazz fusion absorbed elements of soul and of the 'New Orleans Spirit', as he played with the greatest musicians of his generation, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock and Jim Hall. Cavalli made an enormous contribution with over forty works for the stage. Premiered in Venice in 1641, La Didone is based on Virgil's Aeneid. The subject is familiar: the doomed love of Dido, queen of Carthage, and Aeneas, the hero who fled Troy and later founded Rome.

Chris Cheek Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Chris Cheek began playing the alto sax at the age of 12. Thanks to a strong public school music program and a highly supportive family, Chris had good educational and performance experiences from the very beginning. While attending Webster University, Chris played with a variety of local Jazz and Blues bands including legendary saxophonist Willie Akins' group and the Bob Kuban Brass. Chris went to Boston in 1988 to attend Berklee College of music where he studied with Herb Pomeroy, Joe Viola and Hal Crook. Chris moved to New York in 1992 and since then has toured and recorded with Paul Motian, Charlie Haden's Liberation Music Orchestra, The Bloomdaddies, and the Orquestra de Jazz de Matosinhos . Chris has also played with Bill Frisell, Brian Blade, Lee Konitz, Carla Bley, Tom Harrell, Wolfgang Muthspiel, Frank Carlberg, Eliot Zigmund, Brad Mehldau, Kurt Rosenwinkel and many others! Chris also plays with the Brooklyn Boogaloo Blowout, Rudder, Steve Swallow's Quintet and Guillermo Klein's 'Los Guachos'. In addition to appearing on numerous CD's as a sideman, Chris has recorded 4 albums as a leader for Fresh Sound Records. He currently resides in Brooklyn, NY.

Since their student days at the Conservatoire, pianist Fred Nardin, saxophonist Jon Boutellier, trombonist Bastien Ballaz and trumpeter David Enhco have been joint leaders of the band and the main contributors to its arrangements. The 18 brilliant members of the band are not just fans of Count Basie, Duke Ellington and Thad Jones. For them, playing with this remarkable group of musicians is a chance to experiment with new ideas. For this exceptional night under the watchful eye of the great Quincy Jones, the band chose to revisit a selection of themes composed by Quincy over the past six decades. Wouldn't it be perfect if Mr. Jones suddenly decided to conduct some of his favourite arrangements? The ideal moment would seem to be when The Amazing Keystone Big Band will call on special guest Michel Hausser. Since their student days at the Conservatoire, pianist Fred Nardin, saxophonist Jon Boutellier, trombonist Bastien Ballaz and trumpeter David Enhco have been joint leaders of the band and the main contributors to its arrangements. The 18 brilliant members of the band are not just fans of Count Basie, Duke Ellington and Thad Jones. For them, playing with this remarkable group of musicians is a chance to experiment with new ideas. For this exceptional night under the watchful eye of the great Quincy Jones, the band chose to revisit a selection of themes composed by Quincy over the past six decades. Wouldn't it be perfect if Mr. Jones suddenly decided to conduct some of his favourite arrangements? The ideal moment would seem to be when The Amazing Keystone Big Band will call on special guest Michel Hausser. The vibraphonist is coming directly from Alsace with a composition especially written for him by Quincy Jones.
